Design and Make Your Own Wooden Stool
In this workshop, we’ll start with a selection of digital pattern files for stools. You'll learn the basics of designing shapes for CNC (computer controlled) cutting using basic software. Then, you’ll adapt a design and create your own unique stool to take home.
Workshop Content
- Experiment with the design process working on paper to produce a stool design.
- Be introduced to vector-based software and see your design made into a vector file.
- Get a brief introduction to creating a CNC file from a design.
- Get a beginner’s introduction to CNC machining.
- Get your stool design cut out on the CNC machine.
- Be brought through the process of preparing and assembling the cut pieces.
- Discuss and get advice on possible finishes and sealing to protect the piece.
- Get to take a finished stool home.
