Hagans practice ranges from painting, drawing, installation and sculpture and most recently video. Her work connects to a sense of mystery and spiritual complexity, responsive to the universe and our position within it physically, mentally and spiritually. Exploring and playing with connections between space, time and materials, it forces the work in the direction of collaboration; the symbiosis of all the elements and herself.
She maintains a material process within her work without having any preconceived ideas of the outcome. This process offers a sense of encountering, finding and revealing. It offers her the opportunity to analyse and reflect on the finished work, a cyclical process of making and thinking.
Erin Hagan was born in Co.Tyrone and now lives and works as a visual artist in Belfast. She graduated with a Master of Fine Art in 2014 at Belfast School of Art where she also did her BFA. Since then she has exhibited in galleries such as Platform Arts, Catalyst Arts, Golden Thread, 126 Gallery and more. She has also been co-director and chair at Platform Arts which is an artist run space in Belfast.
