Members Make Your Own Canvas Stretcher Frame

Painters, want to reduce your costs and have bespoke sized canvases?
This course shows you how to use the woodshop equipment at Flax Art Studios to make your own canvas stretcher frames. These are frames made with fixed joints.
You’ll make your own stretcher frame using the panel saw, mitre saw and drill. We provide the materials needed.
By introducing the safe use of the machinery and techniques, artists can come back later to create their own stretchers. This course includes an additional woodshop session allowing you to come back to use the equipment.
The course is led by art technician Chris Campbell-Palmer who has a degree in Sculpture from Camberwell College of Arts and many years’ experience working with leading artists as a sculpture fabricator, gallery technician and film-set mould maker.
