Two-part Plaster Mould-making for Slip Casting

Create a two-part plaster mould and slip cast to produce a test piece.
This course will focus on the use Plaster of Paris as a mould-making material for slip casting in ceramics.
During the course you will learn about the properties and applications of plaster. You will make a two-part mould and create a cast object by the end of the course. Processes covered include identifying suitability of forms, mould design, release agents, plaster mixing and slip casting.
This course is suitable for beginner and intermediary levels.
John Rainey is a sculptor based in Belfast. He received his MA from the Royal College of Art, London and his BA from Manchester Metropolitan University. He has exhibited widely and was the recipient of numerous awards including the British School at Rome Fellowship in 2018 and the Rosemary James Memorial Trust Bursary in 2023.
